This project is part of the JISC eContent Capital Programme.
The aim of the project is to digitise and scan historic analogue chart and manuscript sea level records held in the British Oceanographic Data Centre’s archive and to make these records available to the wider community. These unique and valuable records include tide gauge ledgers stretching back to 1853. The records form a unique and irreplaceable resource that will aid understanding of sea level change. If we succeed in making them widely accessible, people will use them for a variety of educational purposes.
This blog is designed to help raise awareness of the project, encourage people to use the data, keep people informed about our progress and help us create links with similar projects and organisations, nationally and internationally.
